Introduction of Hydrogen Delivery and Storage Technologies Group
 
Today, the Hydrogen Storage is one of the most important infrastructures of hydrogen energy, which has become the fundamental challenge in hydrogen applications including automotive, stationary and portable applications. Necessarily, specific attention to this topic could be important in development of hydrogen technologies in the country.
 Accordingly, one of the main groups of hydrogen and fuel cell department is "Hydrogen Delivery and Storage technologies group". Main approach of the group, are studying, recognizing and technical-economic investigation of hydrogen storage methods and explaining the suitable technologies in hydrogen energy development process in the country (considering the development document of fuel cell technology) and also implementation of R&D projects in various technologies related to hydrogen delivery and storage technologies to achieve technical knowledge.
This group, from the beginning of Hydrogen and fuel cell department, having elite experts in mechanical engineering, chemical and process engineering carried out a variety of activities and that they are mentioned hereunder:
• Studying and technical – economic investigation of hydrogen liquefaction methods
• Studying the technical – economic investigation of hydrogen storage methods with feasibility studies on fabrication of high-pressure hydrogen tank
• Design, construction and establishment of a high-pressure hydrogen tank, pressure up to 100 bar and 20 m3 capacity by Arak Machine Company, and installation in Taleghan site
• Procurement and operation of a low temperature metal hydride tank in order to investigation of performance of metal hydride tanks and integration with PEM fuel cell system in Taleghan site
• Studying and investigation of different methods of hydrogen storage in vehicle applications
• Studying of status of hydrogen liquefaction in major world countries programs
• Studying of hydrogen fueling stations in the world
 
Future plans of the group
 
• Procurement, installation and commissioning of a hydrogen cylinder filling unit with capacity of 30 Nm3/hr in Taleghan site
• Design and implementation of a first hydrogen fueling stations in Taleghan site
• Studying, designing and construction of a pressurized hydrogen tank for vehicle, with capacity of 6 kg of hydrogen (according to national development strategy document actions fuel cell technology)
• Studying, designing and construction of reservoirs using nano-carbon tubes technology with capacity of 6 kg of hydrogen stored (according to national development strategy document actions fuel cell technology)
• Studying, designing and construction of a metal hydride tank for vehicle, with capacity of 6 kg of hydrogen (according to national development strategy document actions fuel cell technology)
